Diesel cars have seen a glorious past but they aren’t the darlings of the industry like they used to be. Now is the time for electric cars which are fuel efficient and emit less pollution too. There are many reasons for us to believe that diesel cars won’t make it to the future. Some of them are listed below.
Electric cars
Technology has posed a big threat to diesel engines. Electric cars have been getting better with time and diesel cars are still relying on an age-old mechanism with little advancement. They cannot match the futuristic concepts or smart designs of the EVs and their fuel efficiency is questionable too.
Electric cars have their fair share of advantages over diesel cars. They don’t emit pollution, they require less maintenance and they can run for greater distances. Moreover, they are more refined, comfortable and boast of better aesthetics too. Governments around the world are trying to put a ban on diesel engines to reduce their pollution emissions.
Although the electric cars are mostly expensive yet their growing demand will lead to cheaper prices soon. Eventually, diesel cars will become history as government policies and business models will get fixated on e-automobiles.
It’s not environmentally friendly
All the various movements regarding environment protection have finally met successes. The general conscience is changing towards diesel cars. Once these cars were looked upon as our future but they have not been able to step up to the needs of the new world.
Consumers are more concerned about their role in saving the environment that has led to the demand of a cleaner technology, hence e-cars. Diesel cars have always been under negative publicity as they produce Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) that can cause major respiratory problems in the long run.
Accord toing the EU emissions testing, diesel cars emitted 10 times more NOx per liter fuel than trucks and buses. It also produces 30% more harmful gases than petrol engines. The matter of fact is that we always knew the problems related with diesel engines but the lack of options made us ignore them.
But, now we have improved petrol engines and a surge in the production in electric vehicles. We now have masses more concerned about living a healthy life and savithe ng earth for the future generations.
It has lost its advantages over petrol
Once upon a time, diesel was touted as a miraculous fuel that can save money and run for longer distances than petrol engines. Currently, petrol engines save as much fuel as diesel cars were once proud of. The basic advantage of having a diesel car has lost it value with time. Diesel cars are costly and become more expensive if not maintained properly. They cannot perform at the levels of petrol engines be it speed or engine noise. They used to be economical in the long run but now if we sum up its performance, it costs as much money as a petrol car.
The future does not look bright for diesel vehicles and diesel cars will be the first to lose their ground in case of a ban. Be logical in buying your new car especially if you live in Europe. An EV or crossover is the best option for you right now.
